Practice Accountant
A part time position (18 hours per week) has become available for a Practice Accountant to join an Old Town Swindon growing firm of Accountants. The successful Practice Accountant will earn £15,000 – £20,000 per annum (depending on experience) along with a Company Pension, Annual Pay Review and Study Support. If you are an experienced Practice Accountant, with a desire to join a practice where you will be treated as a valued member of the team, then this is the perfect opportunity for you.
Who are we looking for?
* Possess a suitable accounting qualification (or 10 years’ experience).
* Have experience in a similar role.
* Comfortable using online cloud accounting software Xero and SAGE as well as Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Be able to work with minimal supervision.
* Be friendly, polite and work well as part of a team.
* Excellent telephone manner and happy to liaise with clients as required.
* High standard of written and spoken English.
* Have excellent communication skills.
* Ability to be organised and prioritise work and deadlines.
* At least 3 years’ experience working in practice. Have good experience working with Xero/ SAGE accounts packages and a sound tax knowledge.
* Qualification: Part Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CTA) (or higher) or at least 10 years of verifiable experience.
* Ability to be organised and prioritise work and deadlines.
* Desire to progress to Director/Shareholder position within 3-5 years.
The role of the Practice Accountant:
* Be Client friendly.
* Preparation of annual accounts (Ltd Company, Sole Trader & Partnership), corporation tax returns and self-assessments for clients.
* Manage VAT return preparations and submissions for allocated Clients.
* Manage CIS return preparations and submissions for allocated Clients.
* Manage Companies House submissions for allocated Clients.
* Dealing with client tax and admin enquiries as they come into the office.
* Review work performed by junior staff and provide support to them when needed
* Reporting to the director directly.
