Job Description – Junior Underwriting Manager
Overview
Senior Member of the Underwriting team, supporting the Credit Manager with the daily management of the team. Working closely with the Credit Manager to ensure policies are strictly adhered to, to carry out daily audit, help with people development and feedback and deal with the general day to day administration on the team.
Role and Responsibilities
Supervision of the Underwriting team, leading by example to ensure targets are achieved and will be responsible for the following:
* Provide support to the Credit Manager and the team with any queries
* Ensure continuous review, audit and checking of Underwriters process and decisioning
* Ensure the quality of the Underwriting teams work, regulatory requirements are met, and lending policies are adhered to
* Review and encourage the team to achieve daily, weekly and monthly KPIs
* Ensure that the rota is updated and covered for Saturdays and late shifts and any absenteeism
* Support the Credit Manager to ensure policies and procedures are adhered to
* Ensure a positive attitude and best practice are followed, setting an example to the team
* Liaise with the Credit Manager and the Marketing team to ensure conversions are achieved or exceeded, highlight issues quickly and provide support to ensure they are resolved
* Support and at times deliver morning huddle meetings to outline the tasks for the day and any changes to strategy required.
* Review applications prior to final decision throughout the day and feedback where required to relevant team members
* Liaise with Credit Manager to suggest process improvements, team member monitoring, training gaps, underwriting standards, and targets
* Complete comprehensive reviews of customer applications. Ensure all mandatory requirements are completed on every application and KYC, Credit Checks and Affordability Assessments have been completed in full
* Review customer documentation to ensure compliance with the relevant policy
* Managing accounts to ensure they are correctly and efficiently organised
* Ensure detailed and accurate notes are kept on all dealings with customers
* Aid the IT team with testing of new processes within the UW dept

Experience
Experience directly or indirectly managing individual or team performance
Experience of live audit and ensuring continuous improvement
Understanding of MI and ability or prior experience of reviewing and presenting this information
Previous experience working in an FCA regulated business
