Engineering Workshop Supervisor

Brightwork are currently recruiting for a Engineering Workshop Supervisor for our client’s site in Castle Douglas. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of technicians in this workshop/ machine shop setting and we are seeking someone with strong leadership, communication and customer interaction in a similar environment.
Purpose of Role
Responsible for leading and supervising a team of technicians working with construction and agricultural machinery. A “hands on” approach is essential for this role, which may involve providing technical assistance on equipment, and supporting others in the workshop.
Main Responsibilities:
Managing and mentoring staff
Carrying out appraisals
Reports and records updated when work is completed
Creating and managing the staff, maintenance and work schedules
Ensuring that all equipment and machinery are properly operated and maintained
Monitoring parts and replenishing supplies as needed
Ensure compliance with all healthy and safety procedures
Maintain clean and tidy worksite and work vehicles
Key Skills:
Experience and qualifications e.g., City and Guild, NVQ or SVQ qualifications in Engineering (Agriculture and Forestry etc)
Skilled to master technician level
Good level of experience within the workshop environment
Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding
Able to work on own and as a team
Good communication skills
Demonstrates Initiative
