CONTRACTS SUPERVISOR

We are looking tio recruit a number of Contract Supervisors for various locations.

Proactively supervise, monitor, administer and oversee the Vegetation Management Services contract within the Operations directorate Integral in ensuring that the contract is delivered to the highest possible standard with regards to value, quality, safety & time to achieve the overall operational contracts programme objectives.
The role holder represents the Trust in negotiations and managing relationships with the contractor’s and internal & external stakeholders at local levels.

Facts and Figures:
• Management (matrix) of members of other teams and the Trust’s contractors, consultants and other suppliers.
• Shared responsibility for a national programme of varying complexity of tasks, projects and programmes of work of £10m value. This figure is a guide and programmes may exceed or be below this figure.
• Management of a variety of contractors to ensure efficient and safe programme delivery of the Trusts objectives, in line with specifications, Trust policies and standards.
Key Accountabilities:
• Maintain a culture of incident and injury free by demonstrating clear communication to ensure all tasks, projects and work programmes are planned and delivered safely and in line with relevant specifications and the Trust requirements.
• Supervise, monitor and audit contractor performance to ensure outputs are delivered in accordance with the Trust’s requirements and compliance.
• Assist the Regional Contract Manager to provide contract management support and direction to all those in Trust involved with contracts whatever their funding source, ensuring compliance.
• Maintain communication processes to assess and monitor programme delivery, customer impacts and provide feedback to stakeholders.
• Support the Regional Contract Manager to manage the programme (by contract) budgets whilst maintaining communications with stakeholders at local levels to satisfy their differing needs.
• Maintain locally, effective programme, contract performance, output monitoring and reporting to ensure planned objectives are met.
• Engage with stakeholders providing prompt concise response to customer enquiries and complaints in accordance with customer service standards
• Agreement of task/package order pricing and Compensation Events to delegated levels.
• Dispute resolution within agreed limits and escalation where appropriate with required levels of detail.
• Work safely ensuring the safety of others and contribute to safe working in all activities.
• Display the Trust values and behaviours at all times.
• Ensure that diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of Trust life and promote inclusion by challenging behaviour, practices, actions, or decisions that are counter to the objectives of the Trust’s policies and values.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills
• ONC, Professional or Trade qualification in relevant field.
• Excellent working knowledge of contract management – administration, monitoring and compliance.
• NVQ level 3 in Occupational Health & Safety.
• Comprehensive experience of successfully supervising projects, contracts or programmes of work within the relevant discipline/sector (e.g. vegetation management, asset management).
• Demonstrable understanding and knowledge of contract/relationship management including negotiation and dispute resolution.
• Good communication/ negotiation skills, commercial & financial awareness.
• Proven interpersonal skills enabling the building of collaborative relationships across the Trust & with external stakeholders.
• Proficient user of IT systems
• Comply with Canal & River Trust Health & Safety policy and defined standards, report incidents, accidents and near misses.
• Assess the risks and make adjustments to work methods where appropriate.
• Ensure all equipment (PPE, plant, materials etc.) is appropriate for the task.
• Consider your own and others behaviour.
• To be aware of your own responsibilities regarding safeguarding and to support our commitment to providing safe environments and working practises that promote and protect the safety and welfare of children, young people and adults at risk at all times
