Salary : £45000 – £50000/annum

Randstad are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a client based in South Birmingham. They are a new company that specialises in designing and manufacturing a variety of robotic solutions for a variety of industries and are planning to double in size over the next 12 months.

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Engineering and will play a key role in driving reliability in their products as they launch them on the market.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Lead of all mechanical development on our robots and surrounding components
Design and implementation of test procedures, test rigs, etc.
Integration of subsystem components into finalised products
Produce prototype designs. A mix of hands-on fabrication and coordination with external manufacturers/suppliers
Working closely in a multi-disciplined team to minimise mass and maximise performance of existing robot designs using simulation and prototyping skills.
Design for Manufacturing and Assembly
Work across all product stages, from research and development to implementation and field trials
Bill of materials and product revisions management
Creation of technical documentation
Ensure that new products comply with all relevant legislation About You

5-10 years of experience within a professional product development setting
Desirable experience within hardware or robotics industry
Interest in or knowledge of construction related industries
A problem solver
Passion for talent and engineering and strong technical problem-solving skills
Strong communication and enjoy working with a close team and comfortable giving/ receiving feedback to drive technical decisions
Experience with material selection for manufacturing
Ability to multi-task and manage the prioritisation of both daily tasks and long term projects
3D CAD experience – Fusion 360 desired but not essential
Experience with failure analysis and flow/ CFD simulation experience desirable

This is a full time permanent position with a salary of £45,000-£50,000 + a great benefits package, including unlimited holiday and a hybrid work scheme with a minimum requirement of 2 days a week on site.
