Our Client Royal Mail is the leading provider of postal and delivery services in the UK and the UK's designated universal postal service provider. Through the Royal Mail Core Network, the company delivers a one-price-goes-anywhere service on a range of parcels and letters products. Royal Mail has the capability to deliver to around 31 million addresses in the UK. Parcelforce Worldwide operates a separate UK network which collects and delivers express parcels. Royal Mail also owns General Logistics Systems (GLS) which operates one of the largest ground-based, deferred parcel delivery networks in Europe.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for an Experienced Senior External Communication PR/Campaigns Manager on a 12 month contract based in London, to cover maternity leave.

Purpose of the Role:

The Senior external communication PR/Campaigns Manager will be responsible for supporting and enhancing Royal Mail Group's reputation with external stakeholders, in particular; the UK national, regional and trade media.

As a Senior external communication PR/Campaigns Manager, you will be responsible:

1.To support and enhance Royal Mail Group's reputation with external stakeholders and, in particular, the UK national, regional and trade media.

2.Support on press office functions engaging in issues management to ensure the best reputational outcome for the business.

3.Design and execute campaigns to meet the needs of business, consumer and corporate stakeholders. Work closely with key internal and external stakeholders and advisors to achieve this.

4.To generate compelling, high quality and accurate communications content as a regular drumbeat to showcase the best of Royal Mail

5.Support delivery of key external projects (with some aspects of project management) relating to regulation, the environment, parcels, letters and key calendar events. This includes working with the internal communications team on the development of content for employees.

6.Support the production and delivery of integrated campaigns including web site content, social media content, photographic assets and news releases.

7.Be available to work out of hours (including as part of a regular rota) to manage reputational issues as they arrive.

What we require from the candidate:

Ideally experience working in a Listed company environment. Experience of a regulated industry, or a high-profile business a bonus.
Strong media relations experience – especially in reputation and or issues management.
Ability to write creative and engaging copy to satisfy both the media and internal objectives
Experience in all forms of communications content, gained in either in-house or PR agency environment
Thorough understanding of diverse and evolving mix of communications channels with the ability to deliver integrated plans across multiple channels
