Senior Accountant

Salary : £35000 – £45000/annum
Are you looking for a varied role within accountancy practice? We are recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join a well-established firm of accountants on the outskirts of Newbury. This is an opportunity to join a successful firm with a varied client base of corporate, SMEs and private clients.
This role will offer the successful candidate an element of hybrid working if desired.
The firm is looking for someone with strong experience working in a professional accountancy practice, able to cope with the records of a wide range of clients and able to demonstrate strong skills in the essential duties.
As Senior Accountant your key responsibilities will include:
* Preparation of year-end financial statements for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies using client records
* Preparation and input of period end accruals, prepayments and other journals
* The ability and experience to take client records and use these to produce the end of year accounts
* Interpret and use the output from clients’ accounting systems
* Preparation and filing of VAT returns for clients under MTD
* Bookkeeping including accurate input, agreeing reconciliations and balancing control accounts
* Engage directly with clients as necessary
* Work effectively to meet deadlines
We welcome applications from candidates who can satisfy the following criteria:
* Be qualified ACA, ACCA or AAT – an exceptional qualified by experience accountant would be considered
* Have significant experience gained within a practice environment
* Good understanding of VAT, CIS, PAYE, CT, self-assessment taxes
* Solid understanding of control accounts
* Good IT skills; experience with accounting software including Iris, Sage, Kashflow and other cloud based packages
* Excellent communication skills
