Due to continued growth, a Top 20 accountancy practice is recruiting for an Accounts Senior to join the busy team the firm’s Newbury office. This is a fantastic firm that is offering a competitive salary, agile working and a great range of enhanced benefits.
This firm is open to level of experience, hence the wide salary range and would consider part qualified or qualified by experience candidates at a salary range of £28,000 – £33,000 and for qualified applicants, £33,000 – £40,000.
The Accounts Senior will work with Client Managers and Directors to deliver accounting and technical support with a focus on VAT and management accounts to a range of limited companies, partnerships and sole traders. The role will support the development of Accounts Trainees and other junior staff as appropriate.
As Accounts Senior your responsibilities will include:
* Preparation of year end accounts for small, limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
* Preparation of VAT returns for clients and assisting clients with bookkeeping and management information
* Review of VAT returns prepared by more junior members of staff
* Monthly and quarterly management accounts
* Researching VAT issues and update staff on any changes in legislation etc changes involving VAT Making Tax Digital and other developments
* Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts
* Provide accounting software training and supporting clients with accounting software issues
* Support Client Managers and Directors with the delivery of technical knowledge
* Mentor and support the development of Trainees in a clear and concise manner, identify and solve knowledge gaps
* Draft corporation and income tax computations

* ACCA and ACA qualified, part qualified, or AAT qualified or qualified by experience
* At least three years’ experience gained within a practice environment (slightly less at lower level may be considered)
* A background working in a corporate environment would be advantageous
* Strong IT skills; Microsoft Office (Excel & Word), ideally experience of Digita Suite, SAGE, QuickBooks, Xero, Virtual Cabinet, Auto Entry
* Attention to detail
* Proactive and organised with proven ability to meet deadlines using strong time management skills
* Strong communication skills
* Ability to demonstrate technical processes to suit a wide-ranging audience including management, peers, trainees and clients
* Confidence to build rapport manage a professional relationship with clients
