The Role
Newly created opportunity to join a technology driven business leading an engineering team in a Technical Leading role as Principal Engineer (IP Core).
Job Description
*
You will be responsible for leading technology, infrastructure and functions underpinning the CSP’s IP Networks, focusing principally on the service provider core network and associated services, either virtual or physical.
*
You’ll be directly responsible for:
*
Communication service provider (CSP) IP/MPLS network: provider, provider edge, route reflector, …
*
Internet peering: IPv4/6 private, public peering and exchanges.
*
Data centre connectivity: DC Fabric, aggregation, spine, leaf, gateways, etc.
*
Network security: infrastructure, perimeter, distributed denial of service, intelligence.
*
Out of band networks.
*
Analytics: probes, collectors, brokers, and interpreters.
*
Monitoring: key performance indicators, metrics and trends.
*
You’ll be the business’ authority on architecture, tier-3 / 4 support and other supporting activities for all networking functions throughout the organisation.
*
This could include complex implementations and operations, guidance, and strategy.
*
The functions you’ll be responsible for will include:
*
Enterprise networks.
*
Fixed access networks.
*
Customer access
*
Telephony networks.
*
Television and broadcast networks.
Key Technical Skills/Requirements
*
JCNIE or CCIE qualified. Equivalency will be considered.
*
Strong demonstrable experience in CSP IP/MPLS networking.
*
High-level understanding of protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, EVPN, SR, …) and security.
*
Solid understanding of cloud concepts and software defined networks: public, private and hybrid.
*
Experience with Juniper (mandatory) and Cisco (desirable). Other manufacturers would be advantageous.
Key Non-Technical Skills/Requirements
*
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both technical and non-technical staff.
*
Experience leading highly-skilled technical engineering teams in a comparable communications environment.
We are ideally seeking an individual to be based in Gibraltar, but will consider those prepared for hybrid/remote or who would consider relocation in the long term.
