Akton Resourcing is recruiting on behalf of Hull City Council.
ROLE PURPOSE:
To create, plan, manage and implement PR/media strategies and projects in order to promote and influence a positive image and reputation of the Council amongst all key audiences and stakeholders.
To provide professional and effective PR/media relations support, advice and guidance to key decision makers, including chief officers, the Cabinet, other senior members and officers, and partners where appropriate
To build relationships with the media and communicate the Council's role, vision, priorities and services to ensure positive and balanced coverage in local, regional, national and specialist media.
Qualifications:
Marketing or PR degree or equivalent qualification or equivalent level of experience
Evidence of continuing professional development and/or membership of professional bodyRelevant Experience:
Demonstrable experience in journalism, PR or communicationsSkills (including thinking challenge/mental demands):
Research, analytical and IT skills
Ability to prioritise, work under pressure, to tight deadlines and without supervision.
Project and campaign management skills
Ability to develop, implement and monitor communication strategies and plans.
Ability to operate at a senior level and develop close working relationships with the media, chief officers and the cabinet, and other elected members and senior officers.
Self motivated and enjoys meeting daily challenges.
Ability to anticipate and defuse potentially hostile or contentious PR/media issues.
Ability to project a professional image.Knowledge:
Knowledge and experience of local government and political framework.
A keen interest and knowledge of local and national issues impacting on the Council.
In-depth knowledge of the Council and its activities across all service areas, partnerships and corporate initiatives.
Knowledge of social media and social media monitoring
Legal knowledge relating to journalism and the media
