Role Outline
Responsible for raising the organisations profile within the media and social media platform, advising senior managers and expert staff about how we can enhance our reputation, promote our public health mission, and deliver our business priorities. You must have a good understanding of what drives reputation and what makes a news story.

You will be responsible for leading and managing three specialists in our news centre team, overseeing high-profile and sensitive media issues, media and digital campaigns and strategic content planning for our media, websites and social media channels.
Key Responsibilities

Developing and delivering the news and content strategy. This strategy will support the organisations overall communications and reputations strategy, ensuring we maximise the opportunities offered by the media and social media communications, as a primary channel for communications with all our audiences.
Lead and manage three specialists in our news centre team, including the professional development of all its members.
Organise and manage the news and content centre to deliver the news and content strategy and make the best use of the organisations content.
Lead on high-profile and sensitive media issues to manage the reputation of the agency, responding quickly and accurately to breaking or negative stories to limit potentially damaging media coverage.
Work with staff throughout the organisation to develop new and existing content suitable for publication on the agencies websites and social media channels. Support social media campaigns and use social media channels and communities to communicate appropriately.
Develop and nurture good working practices and relationships with agency staff providing appropriate, clear and trusted advice and guidance to them when dealing with media issues.
Develop and nurture media contracts to promote the work and role of the agency.
Build and maintain a flexible service that effectively liaise with external organisation stakeholders on topical media issues, developing and maintaining lines of co-operation and demarcation.
Play a proactive senior role in the communications divisions account management and project management system.

Qualifications & Skills

Experienced strategic operator with expert knowledge of insight planning and evaluating communications. You will be able to make an immediate and positive impact in a busy, in a collegiate environment
Strong knowledge and experience of managing a high-profile media office including digital comms, strategic content planning and evaluation to deliver business objectives.
Track record as an influential and trusted advisor, providing proactive strategic communications advise on media relations to senior managers and expert staff, including ministerial submissions
Background working within Public Sector/ Government Sector/ Large Busy Media Office ideal.
