Media and External Relations Officer

One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Media and External Relations Officer. This is a temporary contract for 3 months with possible further extension based on budget and performance.
Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary
Excellent press officer with experience of politically led organisations required. The post holder will be responsible for the successful delivery of the Council’s proactive and reactive media relations operation, as well as supporting key campaigns. Delivering a 24/7 digital media cycle, the post holder will be responsible for providing strategic advice to senior managers and Cabinet members and forming strong relationships with the media. They will be expert at building relationships with key journalists and opinion formers and be adept at using and monitoring all forms of media including print, online and social media.
Duties and Responsibilities
* The post holder will work directly with the Media Manager, taking on responsibility for specific areas to promote the Council in the media and manage reputation on issues and projects across a range Council’s service, campaigns and public affairs activity.
* Supporting a 24/7 digital media cycle, the post holder will be responsible for providing media advice to senior managers and Cabinet members and forming strong relationships with the media. They will be expert at building relationships with and advising key journalists, leading on high-profile or sensitive stories.
* The post holder will contribute to the editorial content of Camden’s comms publications, social media and digital channels.
