Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, automotive tier 1

Salary : £45000 – £50000/annum
My client, an innovative 1st tier supplier of electric motors to the motorsport and automotive sectors, requires a Lead Design Engineer to join its team. The Lead Design Engineer will lead the design of my client’s electric motor range on key customer projects. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading, coordinating, and guiding a design engineering team, as well as leading new program and concept design activities including internal new product developments or customer-driven applications through to product launch.
Requirements:
* Degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering
* Proven previous experience in a design and development environment, preferably within the automotive or motorsport sectors.
* Experience of leadership, coaching and developing engineers
* Experience leading new program and concept design activities
* Experienced user of SolidWorks
* The ability to undertake and interpret CAE studies and propose solutions/improvements to design issues
* Confident with customers and suppliers, able to detail requirements and understand isues
* Creative problem solving abilities, with an analytical approach to implementation
* Familiar with FMEAs, 8Ds, robust engineering practices and supporting techniques
* UK driving licence and ability to support visits to customer and supplier sites
