Our client, based in Ontario, is the largest organic mushroom grower in the world distributing throughout Canada and exporting a significant quantity into the US fresh mushroom market.

Opportunity

This role is based in ONTARIO, CANADA.

The company is looking to recruit an ambitious and progressive Horticulture Manager with people management skills to strengthen the operation and production processes within the business.

The successful applicant will apply his/her existing production and operational skills, including managing an existing team of growers, maintenance and other workers. Alongside this there will be the opportunity to learn the technical skills around making compost and growing mushrooms. (Specific mushroom production knowledge is not essential as training will be provided).

Candidate Requirements

* University Degree, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a leadership role at a horticultural/ fresh produce/ or mushroom farm is desirable. Relevant experience in lieu of a degree will also be considered.

* Ten (10+) years of experience in crop production especially large-scale intensive glass house, tunnels or open field systems.

* Ideally skilled in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures and undertaking change management projects.

* Have knowledge in dealing with internal maintenance teams and third-party service providers, sales teams, packaging, shipping.

* Experience in developing financial plans and managing resources including analysis and interpreting financial data.

* Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

* This opportunity requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and ability for independent travel.

* Excellent interpersonal communications skills and professional behaviors, specifically maintaining confidentiality and sensitive information.

Other

* Ideally eligible to work in Canada.

* Fluent in written and verbal English, other languages are an asset.
