Salary : £18.53 – £22.53/hour PAYE or Umbrella

We are currently hiring for the role of Corporate Communications Officer at Portsmouth City Council, the role offers flexible / hybrid working with one to two days per month expected in the office.This is for a 2 month job opportunity with a possibility of an extension.

With an hourly Paye rate of 18.53 and Umbrella rate of 22.53

Job Purpose:

The corporate communications officer role is responsible for protecting and enhancing the council's reputation, and the reputation of any external client services, through effective media management and stakeholder communications and engagement. This includes ensuring key target audiences are well-informed about the council and the services it provides, developing some marketing campaigns and activity to support corporate priorities and achieve service objectives, and supporting consultation and engagement activity.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

to protect and enhance the reputation of the city council, and external clients services, through effective day to day communications and media management, including developing and implementing media management and communications plans, preparing media releases and statements, preparing media briefings
To advise senior officers, elected members and external client services on media and communications issues
To manage communications in an emergency or crisis situation, including liaising with partner organisations and participating in a 24/7 on call rota
To support consultation and engagement activity, including consultation events, public meetings and neighbourhood forum
To understand the business needs of client services and ensure their marketing/communications and other relevant support requirements are captured as part of the forward planning process
Tto support the delivery of the overall marketing and corporate communications strategy for the council and the delivery of the annual marketing framework

Qualifications:

2+ years prior experience in a communications or marketing role
Understand the best practices of main social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc
Must possess exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content
Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team
Superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneouslyHours of work are 9am till 5pm, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
