Like baking? How about chocolate? What about making a real difference? You can work full or part time here too whilst doing all those things.
This charity helps young people develop work skills, offering an average of 160 placement sessions monthly in their chocolate studio and horticulture centre. Over half the employees are on the autism spectrum. They partner with local schools to provide an accessible educational venue, encouraging personal, social, and emotional development through activities.
You will be working as part of the chocolatier team, which is a commercial operation of the charity providing chocolates to local businesses. It’s a busy operation to say the least!
As a Chocolatier/Piping Specialist, you'll join their diverse team, including individuals with autism. An awareness / understanding of Autism is useful. Typical tasks include:
* Precisely pipe chocolate into moulds.
* Fill chocolates with various fillings.
* Maintain food hygiene standards.
* Collaborate to meet production goals.
* Pack and ensure quality.
Requirements:
* Passion for chocolate making.
* Strong work ethic.
* Team player.
* Catering or cake decoration experience preferred (even as a hobby)
* Valid driver's license.
Location: The project is set in the middle of the countryside, down the road from Gilling Castle. So, its about a 40-minute drive from York. 28 minutes from Thirsk. 23 minutes from Malton and 35 minutes from Pickering. A driver is required as it’s not practical to get there otherwise. So, we have advertised in all these locations too (so sorry for any confusion). Please note, its winding roads from most places to get there. There is plenty of parking upon arrival.
Please apply via this advert – everyone gets a response. If for any reason you haven’t had a response, then please call the office and ask for James (number on the Red 5 website) just in case the CV somehow doesn’t get through. You can also phone up and ask for James if you just wanted to have a chat about the role first before applying.
The salary range is £20,000 – £25,000 depending upon experience. Please also note that nuts are used at the operation.
You might have previously worked as a catering assistant, chef or baker
