Farmstar Ltd. was incorporated in 1988 and has been a leading dealer of agricultural machinery, equipment and supplies. Farmstar Ltd has 4 established depots serving the Yorkshire, North/South Nottinghamshire, and Lincolnshire areas!
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Farmstar Team as Assistant Company Accountant based at our Doncaster Marr Depot!
As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our financial operations and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Supporting the finance department, accountants, and senior management team by completing routine clerical and accounting tasks.
Hours: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday
Salary: Competitive Salary DOE
Location: Based at Doncaster Marr Depot
The main duties for this role are as follows:
– Wholegoods invoicing – purchase and sales invoices plus ad hoc invoices
– Monitor major whole good supplier credit lines and manage future payments
– Manage payroll for all depots (circa 80+ staff)
– Compile sales reps / Parts / service bonuses
– Pension management – submissions
– Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
– Provide general administrative support to the accounting department
– Support the preparation of tax returns and compliance filings
– Review fixed assets – depreciation, additions / disposals
– Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
– Manage hire agreements and relevant postings
– Assist the senior management team and department managers with the preparation of various reports including preparing budgets, records, and statements
– Collaborate with the finance team to improve financial processes and systems
– Verify balances in account books and reports to rectify any discrepancies
Ideally to fulfil this role you must have:
– Bachelor's degree or relevant professional qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
– Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices
– Proficiency in accounting software such as Ibcos Goldpay. But Sage or SAP will be transferrable
– Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
– Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Prior experience in a similar role or internship is preferred
