Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer required for our client, a specialist building services provider, based in Hertfordshire. They require a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in the HVAC sector, more specifically, commercial heating projects (both new and refurbishments).
Our client is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer that will be tasked with creating mechanical designs for both new projects and upgrading existing projects from concept to final assembly. Our client works across a number of different sectors, but with a bias towards educational buildings such as schools and universities. Tasks will include, but will not be limited to, producing layouts / drawings, equipment selection of pipework, boilers and other associated equipment using heat loss calculations etc. and then overseeing the project through to completion (however, project management experience is advantageous, but not essential).
It is expected that the Mechanical Design Engineer will have a proven career history and background within the engineering sector and specifically mechanical engineering knowledge based on concept and detailed designs, specifications and the integration of mechanical services (specifically, commercial heating / plant rooms).
Experience with the following software packages is also expected; Hevacomp, AutoCAD & Revit MEP.

Contributing to developing the design of engineering solutions and systems within the built environment, preparing plans, specifications and schedules.
Create reports to support design concepts that show compliance with standards and best practice.
Inspect installations reviewing progress, quality and performance.
Overseeing projects from 'cradle to grave'.
Mechanical Design Engineer – Position Requirements
Previous experience at an engineering practice / engineering consultancy
Software package knowledge; Hevacomp / CAD / Revit MEP.
Professionally qualifications such as a degree / HND in BSc / BEng(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services Engineering or similar advantageous, but not essential.
Member or Associate of Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) or IMech, or working towards charter status preferred.
A clear understanding of the design, installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical building services within the built environment (specifically commercial heating installations).
Project Leading / Client Facing experience would be advantageous.
Based within commutable distance to the office in St. Albans

£45,000 – £55,000+ depending on experience (potentially negotiable)
Working hours – 7:30am – 5pm
23 days + bank holidays, annual leave
