They have been delivering traineeships to 16 to 24 year olds with an 85% progression rate from their programme but they want to be better. They want to give every learner the chance to get their foot in the door for their next step on their career ladder by motivating and inspiring each and everyone. Learning does not need to be a chore, and they ensure that learners complete their preparation for work, including maths and English in way that is fun.

SUMMARY OF POST

The Traineeship Skills Coach role is for those that have experience in being a tutor, trainer or coach within further education.

This a rewarding opportunity as you coach young people into employment via the company’s Open Doors Traineeship programme. You will do that by delivering against the company curriculum which include 21st century Employability Skills, Maths and English for Employment. You will support the learners through an 11 – 14 week programme, with the expectation of the learners reaching apprenticeships, employment, or full-time education. You will work closely with the Learner Support Officer, and Placement Officer to achieve this.

This a hybrid role, where you blend the learning between delivering Face to Face and Online.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

Planning/setting, delivering, and supporting lessons – face-to-face and blended learning, including online learning.

Retention of learners throughout the course.

Uploading materials to the VLE as required.

Deliver scheduled classroom sessions in accordance with the agreed timetable for each cohort.

Contacting learners and their parents/carers on a regular basis and to report unusual findings.

Knowledge of Programme Syllabus and Standards.

Setting clear rules for online behaviour.

Providing appropriate and effective information, Advice and Guidance.

Setting up audio and video conferencing, and screen sharing.

Giving support by email, webchat, social media, classroom and telephone.

Conducting virtual classroom lessons using web technology.

Maintaining appropriate records including those required by awarding organisations and Pavilion Training Services.

Acting as a point of contact for learners or parents/carers queries.

Deliver, support, and assess functional skills where required.

Attend programme meetings as required.

Completion of speaking and listening with write ups and videoing for each AO being used.

Promote all Pavilion Training Services courses and opportunities to employers and other groups including learners.

Criteria

Qualifications / Education / Training:

Minimum of GCSE Maths and English Grade C or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).

IT skills and experience of MS Office Applications.

Experience/ Skills:

Delivered employability skills to unemployed

Experience and track record of delivering maths and English, Functional Skills.

Delivered in a classroom environment.

Delivered online and experience with screen sharing.

Strong administrative and organisational skills.

Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.

Successfully working to deadlines.

Adaptive and flexible approach.

High achieving, able to model the very best practice and professional standards at all times, always having high expectations of self and others.

Ambitious and innovative with the ability to challenge, solve problems and introduce new ways of working.

Commitment to and promotion of safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and an understanding of the safeguarding practices applicable to working within a training organisation.
