They have been delivering traineeships to 16-to-24-year-olds with an 85% progression rate from their programme, but they want to be better. They want to give every learner the chance to get their foot in the door for their next step on their career ladder by motivating and inspiring each and everyone. Learning does not need to be a chore, and they ensure that learners complete their preparation for work, including maths and English in way that is fun.

SUMMARY OF POST

As a Placement Officer, you will be responsible for the engagement of employers. You will be responsible for engaging with businesses to identify and create opportunities for young people. Working alongside internal marketing, recruitment and teaching and learning team, you will develop a strong team ethos and spirit, supporting the overall business goals. You will be responsible for the development of new business opportunities through creating work placements. Placements for traineeships will be a key responsibility for this role. You will be primarily creating placements for traineeships but be dynamic enough to create apprenticeship and employment opportunities.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

Engagement of employers to create work placements for funded provisions.

Development of business opportunities through the of employers.

To be a point of contact, advice, information, and support for employers.

Create opportunities for employment that meet national, local and company priorities.

To support learners in preparing for an employer placement. This will include ensuring that they have the appropriate skills and attitude to gain maximum benefit from the placement and ensuring that they have the clothing necessary for each placement.

Gain good understanding of the learners that are on your caseload to ensure skillsets match your employment opportunities.

To organise and attend placement visits to monitor the progress of learners, agree and set SMART targets and deal effectively with any issues/concerns that arise.

Review learner progress in the workplace and complete the relevant paperwork at the start, middle and the end of the learner journey in the workplace.

Create positive outcomes of learners that include progressions onto apprenticeships, or employment.

To conduct initial interviews and inductions with learners.

To contribute to the development of employability skills, both to individuals and groups of learners. This will include providing support with CV writing, job applications and interview techniques.

To carry out Health & Safety assessments of employer placement settings, and to be aware of the issues surrounding Health & Safety/Safeguarding within the work placement environment.

Engage with stakeholder including local job centres, schools, charities to support the learner pipeline for the provisions.

Criteria:

Qualifications / Education / Training

Minimum of GCSE Maths and English Grade C or equivalent (or willingness to work towards).

IT skills and experience of MS Office Applications.

Experience in the entry to work market, ideally apprenticeships or traineeships.

Experience in employer engagement and dealing with managers.

Good track record of creating placements for learners that lead to positive outcomes.

Strong administrative and organisational skills.

Ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external clients.

Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.

Experience of managing your own sales pipeline and hitting targets.

Successfully working to deadlines.

Adaptive and flexible approach.

High achieving, able to model the very best practice and professional standards at all times, always having high expectations of self and others

Ambitious and innovative with the ability to challenge, solve problems and introduce new ways of working.
