Working Pattern:

37 hours per week (52 weeks per year)

10am to 6pm Monday to Thursday (5.30pm on Friday)

Additionally, no less than 15 Saturdays to be worked as time off in lieu

Job Description:

An experienced Sous Chef is sought to join our leading school kitchen environment, offering daytime hours and an engaging role for the right individual.

Responsibilities:

* Support the line manager in food production for the School, ensuring adherence to food hygiene, allergen, and health and safety standards.

* Direct the food preparation process, delegate tasks as necessary, and play a key role in daily operations.

* Collaborate with the Catering Manager on menu development and recipe ideas, maintaining high standards and food quality.

* Drive service improvement, delivering the highest standards, innovative concepts, and on-trend food.

* Foster a motivational working environment, collaborating with chefs of all levels.

Key Duties:

Daily liaison with the Catering Manager on staffing, business, functions, and special requests.

Maintain awareness of food costs and trends, assisting in meeting financial targets.

Produce food to the highest standards, following menus and specifications.

Demonstrate a positive attitude and support chefs during service.

Monitor and record food waste, ensuring vigilance.

Ensure Health & Safety compliance, including temperature controls and HACCP.

Assist in staff development, including performance appraisals.

Support the Deputy Kitchen Manager in the Catering Manager's absence.

Manage kitchen workload during chef absences.

Manage setup and catering for after-school functions and events.

Assist in daily provisioning orders.

Motivate kitchen staff.

Liaise with Catering Manager and staff during service times.

Contribute ideas for menu development.

Attend relevant training sessions.

Undertake any reasonable requests.

Provide quality service for after-school events and prepare for the next day's lunch service.

Participate in training and performance development activities.

Support the school's aims.

Actively participate in the wider aspects of School life.

Additional Benefits:

* Holiday Entitlement: Initial 20 days plus 3 statutory days (over Christmas) and 8 Bank Holidays per year, increasing by one day per completed year up to 25 days.
