Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
The company design complex engineering solutions and products for a number of industries in the UK and abroad. The products are vehicle and marine based specialist projects
The successful candidate will be involved in novel research and development work as well as design duties. This role requires a good technical problem solver as the role is not just ‘customising existing product’
You will be career minded as the company offers strong development opportunities, sponsorships for additional qualifications and a genuine ability to progress within the company. Some of the work will require a the ability for the candidate to be security cleared
The role will be to join an experienced engineering team involved in the following tasks
* Undertake conceptual design from initial concepts
* Utilise CAD on a regular basis
* Verify designs with the use of engineering calculations
* Be part of an IPT for larger projects
* Liaise with other departments to ensure manufacturability
* Some customer visits might be required
* You will be mentored by more experienced team members and management
You background should include
* A good standard of qualification (degree trained or via a recognised apprentice route
* Possess some post qualification mechanical design experience
* Be proficient in 3D CAD (menu driven such as solidworks, solidedge, creo etc)
* Ideally possess engineering calculation skills (MathCAD, or FEA, stress calcs etc)
* Design experience of complex mechanical systems with an appreciation of materials would be very beneficial
