LEAD ENGINEER
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £40000 – £54000/annum
LEAD ENGINEER (45-54K)
ROLE
* Supervising the design team to create/contribute to the generation of innovative, cost effective and compliant design solutions to meet customer and business requirements.
* Checking and signing off drawings to ensure they comply, checking calcs etc
* Provide technical input to enable & support the cost effective design, manufacture of new units, repair & upgrade schemes and supporting equipment such as test rigs.
* This may include design work and schemes across all product types/sectors served by the company, through secondment to other teams as reasonably necessity.
* Liaison with clients, suppliers and other engineering and functional teams during project work is an integral part of the role
* Interpretation and comprehension of customer and other specification requirements
* Design new systems, components and associated subsystems
* Modify or otherwise develop existing designs where needed for existing or new applications
PERSON
* At least many years in a relevant engineering design role
* Understanding of product costing methods
* Able to sign off drawings etc
* Able to technically lead teams
* Project engineering skills
* Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly techniques
* General/outline familiarity with the operating systems of an engineering business
* Commercially aware
* Proven track record more important than level of qualification
* Able to effectively represent the company in front of suppliers and customers
* knowledge of manufacturing techniques (ideal)
* Detailed knowledge of materials and processing techniques
* Abreast of new developments in the field
* Confident to present to customers and company executives
* Great problem solver
