A leading global manufacturer of consumer chemical products are currently recruiting a Senior Account Manager, who's role will be to promote the offerings and services of the company to it's client base and maintain strategic customer relationships.
Looking for skills within business development and client relationship development, as opposed to direct B2B sales, the successful applicant will come from a chemical/cosmetic/personal care/ homecare product contract manufacturing background and will join a pre-existing, high performing team, and will possess excellent business, communication and relationship building skills from a commercial environment.
Key responsibilities:
* Develop strong external relationships through multi-level stakeholders to support with all aspects of account management, including Buying, Product, Technical and Supply chain
* To attend relevant customer meetings independently, ensuring you are fully prepared to present and control the meetings
* In conjunction with the Business Manager, develop customer specific account plans to include revenue, volume and profitability targets.
* To have an understanding of standard products and company manufacturing capabilities and relate this to customer needs. Be an expert in the products we sell
* To be deeply familiar with our cost base, product BOMs, cost changes and ECG financial targets and to analyse JDE reports on revenue and profitability as required and create plans to maintain or exceed the targets
* Review and understand sales numbers, EPOS, forecasts, budgets
* Create CAF and Costing Requests, analyse cost models and make recommendations for selling prices and margins, and be accountable for profitability of allocated Accounts.
* To fully participate in the internal S&OP process and to advise Customer Service Manager of all future changes to the forecast and facilitate interaction with the customer to ensure accurate information is available, as mutually agreed
* Liaise with all internal departments to champion your customer agenda, ensuring understanding and alignment of customer expectations across all stakeholders.
* Coordinate tenders and briefs, working with the Business Manager and the Finance team to ensure the best offer is made for both the customer and the company
* Ensure that customer expectations are met in terms of providing sufficient information to present new products such as Samples/Mock-ups/design boards/benchmarks and personalised presentations, targeted to each meeting
* To ensure deadlines are adhered to across all support functions of your accounts, vetting information where needed to ensure an accurate, clear and high standard of presentation.
* To obtain a knowledge of the customer their processes, organogram and strategy and keep the Business Manager fully briefed on customers key initiatives.
* Actively look for opportunities within the business to grow sales. Perform commercial analysis of any opportunities and work collaboratively with relevant departments to establish the opportunity size and rational.
* Work closely with the Technical and Project teams, as one overall team, to ensure that all aspects of the product are as the customer expects
Skills and experience:
* Educated to degree standard or equivalent
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience of direct customer interface in commercial activities of consumer products within FMCG manufacturing sector
* Skilled in commercial relationship management as opposed to purely B2B sales
* IT literate – MS Office inc. Word/Excel/PowerPoint
* Inquisitive nature and strong eye for detail and pro-active problem solving.
* Strong analytical and commercial skills
* Proven track record of negotiation and relationship building
* Ability to commercialise opportunities and risks
* Results driven
* Proven teamwork skills and ability to work in a harmonious, driven, passionate team
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to a high standard
* Confident and articulate
* Ability to operate under pressure & work to tight deadlines
* Must have a full, clean driving license
