Mental Health Manager – Are you an experienced registered Mental Health professional? Are you a creative and passionate individual who has experience working with people from diverse communities who are on a journey of recovery?
If yes, Spider is advertising on behalf of a highly successful and growing environmental education charity, based in Bury St Edmunds. They are looking for an experienced registered Mental Health professional to lead on their expanding work with participants who have complex and enduring mental health needs.
The Mental Health Manager is a dynamic role, requiring both strategic input and operational delivery. Your role is to develop and deliver specific programmes for participants living with severe and enduring mental illness. You will also work with the Operations Director and HR to develop an internal wellbeing and training package for employees.
The charity provides a safe space for participants to connect with nature, other people, and themselves. All participants have the opportunity to come together, learn new skills and knowledge, experience the benefits of being in nature and to develop in a way that is guided by them. They have found this to be highly successful in improving individual’s mental health and wellbeing.
You need to be patient, positive, culturally sensitive, and able to use your approach to motivate and encourage their participants and colleagues. You will be working as part of a wider management team.
The ideal Mental Health Manager will be a Mental Health Nurse or equivalent and will have the following essential experience and knowledge of
* Working with people living with severe and enduring mental ill-health.
* Managing risk assessments, safeguarding and suicide risk.
* De-escalation procedures and working within complex situations.
* Ability to co-design outcome plans for participant, assessing, planning, and implementing care requirements.
* Working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team.
* Encouraging vulnerable people to engage and participate in activities and able to capture progress.
* Mentoring and training colleagues.
* Understanding of trauma informed practice
* Knowledge of the benefits of alternative interventions, outside of a clinical setting.
Essential Skills
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt your approach and style.
* Creative thinker, with proven problem-solving skills.
* Resilient character with the ability to manage risk.
* Proven ICT skills with Microsoft packages.
* Strong partnership skills, liaising with medical professionals such as Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust, General Practitioners, Local authorities.
Desirable
* Experiences of working in the natural environment either in a conservation, educational or wellbeing setting.
* Writing and delivering training material for colleagues

The Mental Health Manager position is a full-time position offering a salary of £28,845 – £35,289 (subject to job evaluation). The role will require you to hold a full, clean driving license and own transport is essential, as the Mental Health Manager will work across various sites and from home. Mileage rate will be payable for the business use of the post holder’s private car. As the post will involve contact with children or vulnerable adults, a satisfactory DBS will be required in the event of a successful application.
