Solicitor

Job Type : Permanent, Full Time

Salary :

Moore Barlow is currently seeking a Solicitor (or Legal executive) to join our Southampton office to support our Employment Team.

We are different – although a Top 100 Law firm, we strive to be 'Human First' in everything we do. This means we truly care about our teams as well as our clients. We give people the space and flexibility in where and how they work so they are able to provide the best experience to our teams and clients alike.

Our Employment team provides advice and support to individuals and SME clients across all matters relating to employment law. We do this on both a retained and/or a case-by-case basis depending on the client and their particular needs.

Our client matters vary greatly. For example, our teams could provide services that involve advising senior executives on their employment/service agreement matters in areas such as compensation and benefits, or perhaps assisting them during their commencement or departure to ensure that their contractual matters are expertly managed.

Alternatively, when working with SME employers (typically with a headcount of 50-500 people) we could assist in areas such as:

* Creating or shaping legally compliant documentation

* Drafting employment contracts

* Assisting in employment disputes

* Redundancies

* Settlement agreements

* Defending employment tribunal claims

* Or perhaps even assist in matters such as TUPE or harmonisation or terms post-merger or acquisition.

Our employment team even has expertise to assist clients in gaining Tier 2 immigration status to ensure they can attract overseas candidates to fulfil their recruitment needs.

Given the breadth of our expertise and the quality of the work handled by the team, this opportunity provides the successful candidate excellent opportunity for further professional advancement and growth. Also, our Business & Organisations Division (in which the Employment Team sits) is the largest contributor to the profitability of the firm; an extensive internal referral network ensures a steady flow of high-quality work for the successful candidate to be involved with.

Day to Day:

* You'll be building strong relationships with our clients and ensuring they are supported with their employment matters.

* You’ll be working with colleagues to deliver great outcomes for our clients. We often share clients and workload in the team and as such, you’ll find working at Moore Barlow day to day a collaborative place to work. Where needed, our Partners can act as mentors to help you shape your long-term career at Moore Barlow.

* As a fee-earner within the team, you will be responsible for managing your own client relationships as well as participating in shared clients in a team environment.

* We care deeply and as such, you will provide a highly attentive and customer-focused approach. Many of our clients work with us on a repeat business basis – choosing the more personal service provided by Moore Barlow relative to other firms.

* You will also assist with coaching and mentoring other members of the team to help develop their knowledge and ability to meet the needs of clients.

What we look for:

* A qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with previous experience gained in the field of employment law – we envisage this to be in the region of 0.5 – 3 years’ PQE.

* Familiarity with the areas of focus described above.

* Great communication skills, a passion for helping clients achieve their goals and the ability to think creatively.

Above all, ours is a friendly, empathetic and expert team and as such, we are seeking an individual who is able to demonstrate a team-focused mindset, and a passion for achieving the right outcome for the clients we serve, and the Firm.
