The White Swan Inn, located just outside Arundel in West Sussex, is gearing up for a busy autumn and winter season and is now looking for a Head Chef to join their fabulous team.
As a Head Chef, you will have the opportunity to work in a warm and welcoming restaurant, serving all fresh food to a range of guests from business travellers to families. The White Swan Inn also hosts many weddings, parties, and business events throughout the year, so there will always be something new and exciting to work on.
With a busy carvery lunch every Sunday, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has experience of cooking in lovely pubs, but also has event catering experience.
What’s on offer:
This is a full-time, permanent position, offering a salary of £35,000 to £40,000 per annum, plus live-in accommodation if required. You will be working an average of 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7.

You will be required to work weekends and evenings, plus must be available for key dates such as Christmas, Mothers’ Day, bank holidays and local big calendar dates, such as Goodwood Races.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Head Chef:
General Kitchen & Staff Management
* Ensure efficient and smooth running of kitchen operations
* Work weekends and evenings as needed, plus key dates such as Mothers’ Day and Christmas
* Maintain good relationships with catering team and other hotel departments
* Monitor and record staff training
* Mentor and coach catering team members
* Conduct induction training for new staff
* Undertake additional training for personal growth
Food Purchasing & Cost Control.
* Record order details according to procedures.
* Maintain agreed stock levels for fresh groceries and frozen products.
* Inspect deliveries and process returns for faulty items.
* Ensure stock rotation and assist in monthly stocktake.
Quality Control
* Maintain high cooking standards to exceed customer and company expectations.
* Ensure excellent customer service is consistently provided.
Menu Planning & Food Production
* Produce and present food, exceeding customer expectations and keeping up with current trends.
* Assist executive chef in planning menus for all customers, including special diets.
* Cost menus and special events using up-to-date ingredient costs.
* Manage production and planning of dishes based on customer numbers.
* Minimize wastage through controls, records, and reports.
* Promote essential hygiene practices in the kitchen.
* Lead by example in personal hygiene and appearance.
Health & Safety
* Monitor activities using Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point approach
* Assist in reviewing COSHH and hazard risk assessments
* Ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations
* Stay updated on allergen regulations
* Maintain 5-star EHO scores
* Perform other requested duties from General Manager
