My client, a national leader within multi-media publication is recruiting for a qualified and experienced News Editor based in Aberdeen, Scotland.
As part of their exciting expansion my client is looking for an experienced Editor to lead the launch of a brand-new title. You will have previous experience of managing a team, covering live and breaking news as well as setting the news agenda for your city each day.

You will be able to jump between news and features, understanding what your readers want from each section of the website. The role will require you to manage content daily and commission quality, compelling articles which match the brand vision and that cover the issues that matter most to your readership.

Key Responsibilities
*Overall responsibility for the performance of the title, and management of everyone on the team
*Responsible for overseeing live and breaking content
*Lead the team to achieve digital audience growth and engagement targets
*Commission, prioritise and drive the best content
*Joint responsibility for core KPI of driving page views to reach site targets
*Communication, including written, face-to-face and the ability to cascade consistent messages for maximum impact
*Ensures content is legally and IPSO compliant
*Foster a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations and having in-the-moment performance discussions.
*Ensure the continued development of team members, supporting them to reach their full potential.

Skills and Experience
*A proficient and flexible manager who can drive the team to achieve KPIs (ESSENTIAL)
*Ability to read, interpret and apply data insights to daily work (ESSENTIAL)
*Confident with social and SEO techniques to build traffic to the site (ESSENTIAL)
*A first-class writer who is adept across a wide range of topics and as capable of writing attention-grabbing headlines as an engaging copy (ESSENTIAL)
*Significant experience in a digital newsroom, likely to be at a national level (ESSENTIAL)
*Experience in leading a team of digital journalists (ESSENTIAL)
*Communication, including written, face-to-face, presentation skills and the ability to cascade consistent messages for maximum impact.
*Delegation skills
*Problem-solving skills
