We are currently looking for a Cook for permanent Day shifts in a high quality, modern Residential Care Home in leek, Staffordshire with an excellent reputation. The home predominantly cares for the elderly and those with dementia.
The Role:
As a key member of the Care Home team you will be autonomous in the kitchen on your shift preparing nutritious meals for all of the residents for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the occasional snacks. In the role, you will know what you need and will be ordering supplies on a weekly basis. You'll also have the lovely responsibility of catering for celebrations within the home and seeing their delight when you and the care home team have really made an effort to make their day special.
As Cook you will cater for residents specific needs and deliver a high quality service at all times. You will also support carers at meal times and assist residents who cannot eat independently.
The role is full time working 40 hours per week (which is 4 shifts) and you would be given your shift patterns weeks in advance so you know when you are working and can plan. Shifts are 8am – 7pm and there is a fair working policy meaning you would at least have every other weekend off.
About You:
You should have good catering experience and if you have experience working in catering in a care home, great, but if not, you will have a comprehensive induction and shadowing to ensure you are fully trained and ready for the role. You MUST have a relevant NVQ in Cooking / Catering / Food Hygiene.
