Job Title: Catering Assistant
Trust Location: Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust
Working Pattern & Hours: Mon-Sun (5 out of 7) – 4pm-8pm (Rota to be confirmed and discussed, but candidate needs to be fully flexible.)
Pay: £10.37, plus enhanced pay for weekends and bank holidays

About the Trust
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby, and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care, and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital. The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales, and the Isle of Man.
What you’ll be responsible for:
* Preparation and production of all meal, including full English Breakfasts, lunches, and evening meals. Expectation to work with pork products.
* Required to undertake responsibilities for all aspects of food preparation and service, providing catering services to patients, staff and visitors restaurants including hosting hospitality events of already established highest standards.
* Help with re-modelling menus, optimising productivity, and maintaining kitchen stocks and date order rotations.
* Providing full support and taking responsibility for special dietary requirements for patients including keeping fully informed with most up to date legislative guidelines around allergens and associated contamination risks, to be able to provide personalised patient care with minimum supervision.
The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above
You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:
* An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
* Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
* A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation
You’ll have the following skills/experience:
* All equipment used in commercial food preparation, production, and packaging
* All equipment used in commercial retail industry
* Team player & able to work independently
* Able to follow instructions
* Food Safety Level 2
