DesignerLocation: Westbury, WiltshireSector: Manufacturing (Bespoke Packaging)Package: Basic Salary £35,000 plus Bonus& other excellent PLC Company Benefits  The Company Macfarlane Design and Manufacture are a division of Macfarlane Group PLC. We are seeking to appoint a Packaging Designer for our Manufacturing site in Westbury, Wiltshire. Our specialist manufacturing division designs and manufactures bespoke protective packaging solutions for customers that require protection for high value products during transit and storage. Our customers are UK wide and span several key markets including Aerospace, Defence, Electronics, Industrial and Medical.The Designer Role Reporting to the General Manager, and part of the New Business team, this role will work with customer product engineers, our external sales team and manufacturing teams to create innovative packaging solutions for high value products requiring protection during shipping and storage.Designer Key Duties
Analyse customer product details and assess product fragility
Gain full understanding of storage & transportation methods
Develop concept and confirm manufacturing methods
Cost the new packaging design using in house estimating software
Build prototype pack using CAD plotting table
Liaise with external sales and operations
Produce manufacturing drawings and production instructions
Continually expand knowledge of new materials and design ideas
Undertake continuous improvement initiatives

Do you have the correct profile? To apply you will require the following: –
Experienced and proficient in the use of Solidworks design software
Knowledge of Kasemake and Artios preferable
Solid IT Skills – Microsoft
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Manufacturing background
Capable of understanding business processes and procedures
Ability to meet demanding tight customer deadlines
Collaborative approach/team player
