My client is looking for a highly skilled Digital Technician to join their creative team.

The Digitech role is one of a technical generalist. The successful candidate will have a strong background in solving a wide range of computing problems, from networking and hardware issues to writing software to automate processes. They might not know all the answers, but they'll know enough to leverage others and teach themselves, to achieve their goal.

My client's Imaging Services builds the world's best online shopping experience through photography, video, and usability design enabling millions of customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.

Imaging at this company is a large and fast-growing network of teams located throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, focusing on fashion and product photography, photo retouching, graphic design, video, and CGI production, automated image acquisition, and image support services.

This client is continually innovating and setting new industry standards for showcasing 10s of millions of products across multiple global marketplaces.

My client is obsessed with innovating on behalf of their customers and continually pushing beyond the boundaries of traditional e-commerce photography and videography.

Successful candidates will have excellent computing skills, be strong communicators, be very detail-oriented and highly organized, accustomed to navigating networks of internal services, tools, and teams in order to affect change on behalf of customers.

The Digital Technician's core role centres on performing quality checks, managing and archiving all digital assets created and acting as the primary point of contact for post-production teams.

This team is however also the bridge between technology to the studio. As your experience in the role grows, the focus turns to maintaining and developing new scalable systems and acting as the point of contact for external technical teams, seeking to continuously improve the relationship between global studios and technology.

You will need a strong background in computer hardware and software and be able to recommend new technologies that ensure our studios stay at the forefront of the industry.

Responsibilities

Learn, maintain and build upon a range of internal tools that manage asset flow, error checking and delivery, or interface with other internal tools, and automate manual tasks for the Creative Teams.
Verifies colour accuracy and performs corrections as needed.
Manages completed studio asset delivery to the post-production team.
Supports site-specific software and hardware troubleshooting and maintenance to reduce downtime and maximize productivity, escalates to IT where necessary.
Ensure Imaging standards are maintained.
Provide guidance to new and established freelance Digitechs, Photographers, and Video Editors.
Resolves customer/vendor-related problems and quality issues related to digital assets.
Execute on business metrics such as image coverage, image quality, and studio throughput, by performing quality assurance, contact resolution, and developing new processes.
Pilot new processes and initiatives and provide feedback to ensure successful implementation.
Look for process improvement opportunities to streamline, increase productivity, or reduce defects; define and implement projects to address those needs.
Coordinate with the software development team to implement continual system innovations.
Coordinate with photographers, stylists, digital technicians, videographers, and video editors to identify existing process roadblocks and improvement opportunities.
Utilize appropriate digital asset management techniques to track products between photography and video bays. Key job responsibilities

Basic qualifications

Strong Computing Skills
Comfortable interacting with a computer via a command line/terminal.
A desire always to be learning new skills.
Proficiency with Windows and Mac OS Operating Systems.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation skills).
Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Self-driven and able to easily communicate creative ideas and collaborate in a team environment.
An obsession for delighting customers.
Productivity-focused and proven to be a quick problem solver. Preferred qualifications

Professional experience as a retoucher, photo assistant, digital technician, video editor/technician in a commercial photography studio, or maintaining systems and troubleshooting in an IT role.
Experience with computer programming (Bash Script, Powershell, Python, or similar).
Experience with digital photo/video assets and +le management and standards, including knowledge of video codecs, bitrates, etc. Are you ready to make a difference? If so, apply now!
