Electrical Design Engineer
Randstad Engineering are currently recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer for an industry leader in steel manufacturing based in Port Talbot.
The Role –
The companies Infrastructure & Integrity department are seeking an experienced Electrical Power distribution design engineer. Within the role you will be working on one of the largest privet electrical networks within Wales, you will assessing existing infrastructure and modelling to ensure existing system are still fit for purpose & safe for continued operations.
Full studies will include but not limited too; power data logger reviews, load flow studies, power quality studies, protection coordination studies, arc flash assessments, design review to BS7671 , infrastructure improvement recommendations, design consultancy to other works departments , new installation design services, technical specification documents and audit documents.
Essential Experience / qualifications –
Strong design experience is LV power distribution systems creation of (Schematics / Single line diagrams / cable schedules / cable calculations / electrical layout drawings)
Good experience and direct involvement and delivery of detailed LV/HV power system studies. (load flow analysis / power quality studies G99/G5-5/P28/P29)
Strong/good experience working with at least one of the following software packages SKM PTW / ETAP / IPSA
Good ability to review existing electrical LV infrastructure and design review against BS7671.
Very good ability to design (New) commercial/industrial electrical power systems and supporting drawings/technical specification documents.
Excellent written and verbal communications with both technical and non-technical personnel.
Strong experience working on Commercial & Industrial sites.
HV/LV Protection coordination studies
Experience with existing plant site audits and surveys
Consultancy experience
Ability to work on own initiative or part of a developed team
Willingness to learn and further develop experience and skills
Proficient in H&S regulations & applicable technical standards
HND/Degree qualified in electrical engineering
Desirable Experience/qualifications –
Experience with software packages Electrical OM (Not necessary as training will be provided)
LPS Design / specification /risk assessments
Lighting & Emergency Lighting specification & design
HV 3.3Kv/11Kv Design experience
HV/LV Harmonic power quality studies
Experience in LV industrial EICR reports
Engineer from an electrical time served background (Not Essential)
Arc flash assessments/studies (training will also be provided)
