Summary of role:

Working across multiple product categories the Designer is responsible for designing premium quality products on time and in line with agreed strategy for each product, ensuring maximised profit margins and adhering to Our client brand and quality standards throughout. The Designer is responsible for delivering compelling, consumer led products and ranges, driving product aesthetics to the highest level while retaining commercial viability and required performance attributes. Working to exceed the brand and quality expectations of their Our client's customers is the key focus of your role

Key Objectives:

Responsible for conceptualizing and delivering market leading performance products from the briefs, utilising their brand five pillars of protective, lightweight, packable, easy-care and versatile, as appropriate and relevant to the range, category, style and end use
Deliver designs and explore potential opportunities that are underpinned by their consumer research data and direction

Research and present upcoming market trends, technologies, fabrics, colour and trim to identify opportunities relevant to Our client's’s product direction

Present concepts, design inspiration and details, fabric and trim information in a clear, concise and professional manner at all stages of the process from seasonal kick-off through to design reviews, proto reviews, range reviews and range launches to the wider business teams such as Marketing and Retail
Research and propose appropriate materials, trims and technologies for your allocated styles and their end use

Support on delivering the seasonal creative and colour direction across the product range, in line with consumer expectations and seasonal business plan

Support on creating and presenting mood and design boards for each season showcasing colour, fabrics, trims and new technologies

Inspire creativity within the team and explore new concepts that expand on their brand defining products and technologies

Think innovatively at all stages of the creative, design and development process

Key Requirements:

Educated to degree or similar qualification in Apparel or Product Design
Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role and/or business
Knowledge and understanding of technical apparel and sportswear a must have
Commercial awareness of designs, their role in the range and cost implications

Ability to work on multi-product categories from technical waterproofs and jackets, fleece, mid-layer, shirts, trousers and accessories

Experience and knowledge of print techniques a benefit
Willingness to learn and be curious about their consumers, their activities and the product end use

Knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Outdoor and Travel activities is a benefit

Must be fluent in Adobe creative suite. Strong understanding of Microsoft office, and Powerpoint

Ability and willingness to travel within UK, EU and Asia a must have
Passionate about all aspects of design, creativity and innovation
Self motivated and wanting to learn and develop skills and knowledge

The team travels together and individually, as required, to their suppliers in the Far East. They also travel to trade shows across Europe. This role does require some travel each year. Please do not apply if you are unable to travel abroad.
