This lifestyle design brand is growing their apparel design team and are recruiting an experienced Womenswear. The ideal applicant will have multi-apparel experience from within another fashion business as you will need to hit the ground running!
Womenswear Designer – The Role: Key responsibilities.
* As a middleweight Womenswear Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role conceptualising and developing the men’s wear collection.
* Researching and identifying brand relevant trends, key brand focused influences to inspire and develop new ranges, to compliment and drive forward existing product lines whilst maintaining the brands DNA.
* Create mood/presentation boards .
* You will work closely with the Head of Design on new designs, whilst being proactive in bringing new ideas and designs to the table working within the men’s wear team.
* Collaborate with cross functional teams including product development, sales and marketing to bring designs from concept to production.
* Attend trade exhibitions in the UK and comp shops to ensure you are always market aware.
* Create detailed technical drawings and tech packs and brief suppliers confidently.
* Create and develop new trims and be confident in fabric selection and fit for purpose.
* Identify and update bestsellers to drive repeat business.
* Checking samples from first fit stage through to SMS, attending fit sessions providing valuable input to achieve the desired fit and aesthetic for the garment.
Womenswear Designer – Requirements: Candidate
* Min. 3 years working in the industry post graduate with a fashion/design related Degree.
* The ideal candidate will come from a brand/ retailer or supplier background with strong understanding of the design process and brand DNA whilst working closely to critical paths, with suppliers.
* Multi apparel Womenswear experience esp. true knitwear and non-technical outerwear would be an advantage.
* You will have a keen eye for styling and a natural flare to organise and style photoshoots for new collections with brand in mind.
* Strong understanding of fabrics, garment construction, fit and manufacturing processes.
* You will be a well organised, confident communicator, experienced in managing priorities and liaising with internal teams and external suppliers etc. Proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator. Have experience of working closely with overseas factories.
* You must also be an effective communicator & team player to step into this challenging role and be confident at building good internal and external relationships
