A collaborative and creative Architectural Design Studio with a national reputation for delivering Architectural design excellence are currently recruiting for a Studio Leader to head up their Harrogate Studio.

This outstanding practice has grown steadily over the last 16 years to a complement of 22 professionals across three studios. A varied and exciting portfolio has been established, covering a wide range of public and private sector commissions from £100k to £60m in construction value.

Particular areas of expertise have been developed in managing complex projects, multi-stakeholder clients; creating flexible design solutions to meet the ever changing needs of society; creating value from Listed Buildings and the integration a sustainable design approach. Investment in specialist skills such as Conservation, BIM and Passivhaus qualifications provide in-house expertise to integrate contextual, technical and environmental principles into responsive and responsible design solutions.

The opportunity for a Studio Leader.

Our client require an exceptional Architect to join them on their journey as Harrogate Studio Leader. As part of the management team, the role will have a key influence on the next phase of the practice's evolution which will include widening a client base and establishing a presence in Leeds City Centre.

They are looking for someone with a passion for and experience of delivering high quality, sustainable design who can engage clients; manage a team of like-minded individuals; offer leadership and management; encourage the development of others and provide a consistently excellent architectural service that WOWs clients. They will lead on and be involved in all aspects of project delivery within their studio; be accountable for the performance and development of their studio team and the output they produce; and take a lead in winning work and building strong relationships with studio clients. They will shape the practice culture and systems through their role on the Management Team and through leading by example.

Design & creative expertise requirements for the Studio Leader

Takes responsibility for delivering consistently high standards of design and technical output;

Keeps aware of relevant legislation and industry changes;

Seeks timely advice from others (internally or externally) to ensure projects receive appropriate specialist inputs;

Takes responsibility for developing their knowledge and skill; undertake activities to meet RIBA CPD requirements;

Promotes and grows seven's reputation for specialist skills such as Heritage and Sustainability;

Collaborates daily with other Studio Leaders, working flexibly and sharing support to resource projects across the practice;

Takes action to encourage and strengthen links between studios;

Reviews work produced by the studio team and promotes a culture of checking & reviewing before issue;

Plans and monitors project delivery in the studio and makes decisions on priorities;

Leads a positive and effective studio team culture and holds studio members accountable for their actions and performance;

Supports Practice Directors in the recruitment process;

Runs weekly studio meetings, encouraging dialogue and review and seeking out opinions and inputs from others;

Skills & Experience for the Studio Leader

10+ years UK practice experience post Part III qualification;

Experience at a Management Level at at least Senior / Associate Level within a UK Architectural Practice;

Confidence and experience in developing long term relationships and in generating new and repeat work;

Confidence and experience in working across all RIBA Stages across a broad range of building types, both public & private;

Expertise in dealing complex briefs with multiple stakeholders;

Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills;

Enthusiastic, can-do attitude with good problem-solving skills;

The ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously;

Confidence and experience in using Autodesk Revit; Confidence and experience in using Adobe Creative Suite;

Working hours & salary / package details for the Studio Leader.

Salary £47,000 – £50,000 based on a flexible hybrid working pattern consisting of 37.5 hours per week.
