Legal Secretary
Job Type : Permanent, Full Time
Salary : £22000 – £24000/annum
LEGAL SECRETARY required for to support Wills and Probate team.
Your main priority as a legal secretary is to provide secretarial and administrative support to lawyers and legal executives or other Fee Earners within the Firm.
Your daily tasks include:
Keeping records up to date and general filing (both paper and electronic documents)
Archiving files
Typing up legal documents, including transcribing audio dictation, correspondence, e-mails and all other like documents
Answering the phone and making a documented record of the same
Organising diaries
Preparing Probate, LPA and other relevant forms.
Making appointments with clients
To act as secretary to assigned fee earners and carry out the task such a role normally entails.
To adhere to firm guidelines re: money laundering and other areas of risk management and to be aware of the need to comply with the SRA Code of Conduct in bringing any breaches to the attention of the COLP.
Attend training courses as required by the Partners

To maintain the Firm’s Register of Wills, Codicils, Powers of Attorney and Probate.

To maintain the Firm’s Deeds Store Register

To keep up-to-date the Register and to arrange to file and retrieve documents from time to time as required.

Receive “on account” payments from Clients and refer these to accounts department.

Informing Accounts department of any Client changes.

Cover reception
*
Generally finalising matters by requesting cheque for final payment of fees etc and obtain ledger printouts before closing file
