Salary :

Hunter Global are recruiting for a Trials Officer to assist the Technical Development Manager to generate technical information through the delivery of field, laboratory, greenhouse and third-party trials.

Key Tasks:

* To assist in the establishment and management of field, laboratory and glasshouse trials including planting, fertiliser application plus harvesting of a range of crops.

* Planning and scheduling of trials activities to meet targets and deadlines

* Ensure trials and assessments are carried out to meet industry standards and set protocols

* To assess plants, plots or laboratory assays for a range of agronomic or physical characteristics using a range of tools. May require ability to recognise crop diseases and disorders and interpret assessment keys after suitable training

* To validate, analyse and submit trials data, checking for errors, processing by prescribed deadlines and assist in compilation of final trials reports and presentations for internal and external audiences

* To maintain a range of equipment and facilities, ensuring all machinery, equipment and buildings are serviced, maintained and ready for use when needed. Keeping maintenance records up to date, arranging contractors our outside laboratories to carry out work if necessary.

* To ensure work is carried out in a safe environment Ensuing compliance with risk assessment and maintaining servicing logs

Required skills and Qualifications:

* Minimum of A-C Grade GCSE’s in Maths, English & Sciences

* Ideally a degree in a science-based discipline

* Background understanding in Agriculture & Horticulture

* Work based experience of practical crop production / agricultural research would be an advantage

* PA 1, 2 Spray application qualification would be advantageous but not essential

* Planning & problem-solving attributes

* Ability to work under pressure during busy peak work periods

* Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the business and external customers

* Excellent time management skills, both in reliability & effective day-to-day working

* Ability to adhere to processes and procedures, review and make changes where necessary

* Work within a team environment and be unsupervised at times

* Good housekeeping essential, taking pride in their work & their working environment

* Excellent self-initiative & self-motivation qualities

* Be conversant in the standard Microsoft software package including, Outlook, Word, Excel & Powerpoint

* Full UK Driving licence

Additional information:

There is likely to be a large proportion of outdoor work during the key recording and harvesting periods. A suitable vehicle is provided for travel from the trials centre to remote trials sites. An element of time is spent in the office carrying out planning and administrative duties or in the laboratory and greenhouse conducting smaller scale trials. There will be some intensive periods of repetitive work. Due to the seasonal nature of the work, it may not be possible to take annual leave at certain times. Professional training will be provided when necessary

Hours:

Standard working hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday, Extra hours and weekends are expected during busy peak production times.
