The Company
Our client works with business owners and leaders looking to claim R&D tax credits from HMRC. Working in partnership with clients, their specialist tax consultants maximise the claim for R&D credits while minimising the time required from the business. The company is ever-growing with teams of in-house professionals and field-based consultants.
The Opportunity
They are looking for a technical report writer/Manager who can speak easily to clients, ask good questions, keep conversations moving and ultimately write compelling detailed and robust reports that describe the activities undertaken in support of a clients R&D claim.
You’ll be a key point of contact to show their clients that they understand their business and the intricacies of their R&D work in a particular field of science or technology. They will look to you to do the technical research to gather information about their clients, their sectors and industry. That will involve regular contact with their clients as part of the project team, discussing the technically complex work in detail to uncover the information needed to maximise the claim on the client’s behalf. You will then produce excellent, high quality written reports to support the claim, clearly and articulately communicating the depth and detail of the client’s innovation and demonstrating how it meets HMRC’s criteria. The work is broad and varied and you will be excited by the opportunity to meet and discuss innovation with clients across a variety of sectors from digital software, through energy, construction, retail, and manufacturing to name a few.

The Candidate
Qualifications & Skills:
– Background in a technical field – STEM education advantageous not essential
– Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to translate complex ideas into a digestible report that ensures the reader understands the journey a client may have undertaken when carrying out their innovation/R&D
– Knowledge of UK R&D tax relief scheme possibly advantageous but not at the expense of the other skills and attributes.
– Sound commercial experience in business, product / services development
– Use of Microsoft Office & Word
