Software Engineer

Our IT function is using the latest Technology to deliver business benefit to Drax more quickly, improve user experience and drive operational efficiencies. We’re now recruiting a Software Engineer as we continue to enhance the capabilities of our in-house applications.
You’ll be able to work from home, with the expectation that you’ll come into the office for monthly meetings and face-to-face collaboration when required.
Drax’s offices are based in Ipswich, London, Northampton and Selby – so your main office will be the one closest to where you live.
You’ll also have flexibility around start and finish times, so you can make your hours work for you.
About the Role
As part of a pro-active in-house team, you’ll be developing, configuring and delivering software accurately and with quality. It’s a varied role, giving you scope to work across a range of new and existing applications. And you’ll be joining the team during an exciting period of growth and technology change.
You’ll be collaborating with the wider IT team and 3rd party suppliers, and the role covers all aspects of solution delivery including problem solving, coding and planning the technical direction of our systems in association with the architecture team.
It’s also an opportunity to act as a mentor, coaching and developing junior members of the team.
About You
You’ll bring experience working in both .NET Framework and Core, as well as SQL Server. A good understanding of Azure DevOps, both build and release pipelines, and source control would be ideal.
With a keen interest in latest technologies, you’ll have strong knowledge of web services and cloud platforms. Experience with SnapLogic, Solace and containers would be beneficial.
