We are currently looking for a Senior Ecologist to join us on a full-time basis.

The Role
As the Senior Ecologist, you will provide your expertise for the conservation and enhancement of the Park’s wildlife and natural beauty, providing practical advice and training, developing strategic policy, plans, advice, and research for this purpose, ensuring that this is at the heart of all Authority business and services.
In addition, you will:
– Steer the nature recovery work of the BBNPA, supporting the practical management of land owned and managed by the BBNPA
– Provide training for to staff and Members
– Quality control ecological advice and guidance provided
– Undertake and to commission surveys, surveillance and monitoring of habitats and species
– Draw together and develop the Authority’s understanding of ecosystem structure and function in relation to the distribution, condition and status of habitats and species in the park
– Lead the development and implementation of project and funding proposals for nature recovery
– Collaborate with relevant partners and stakeholders in achieving these tasks
– Where a clear beneficial environmental outcome can be achieved, to lead the preparation of environmental strategy, policy, and advice
– Contribute to the State of the Park Reports, National Park Management Plans and Corporate Plans.
About You
To join us as a Senior Ecologist, you will have a minimum of 3 years proven management/supervisory/natural resource management experience, ideally within a protected area, local authority planning department and/or conservation organisation, delivering conservation work at middle management level or above.
In addition, you will also possess:
– Welsh language skills (at least Level 1)
– Educated to degree level or equivalent in ecology or a similar environment subject
– Good experience of research and development within the public sector, including the commissioning and quality control of relevant contracts, synthesising and disseminating information
– Good experience of preparing and contributing to the implementation of corporate strategies, policies and plans and delivering these to timetable.

Fel yr Uwch Ecolegydd, byddwch yn darparu eich arbenigedd ar gyfer cadwraeth a gwella bywyd gwyllt a harddwch naturiol y Parc, gan ddarparu cyngor a hyfforddiant ymarferol, datblygu polisi strategol, cynlluniau, cyngor ac ymchwil at y diben hwn, gan sicrhau bod hyn wrth wraidd o holl fusnes a gwasanaethau'r Awdurdod.
Yn ogystal, byddwch yn:
– Llywio gwaith adfer natur y BBNPA, gan gefnogi rheolaeth ymarferol ar dir sy'n eiddo i'r BBNPA ac sy'n cael ei reoli ganddo
– Darparu hyfforddiant i staff ac Aelodau
– Darperir cyngor ac arweiniad ecolegol rheoli ansawdd
– Ymgymryd ac i gomisiynu arolygon, gwyliadwriaeth a monitro cynefinoedd a rhywogaethau
– Llunio a datblygu dealltwriaeth yr Awdurdod o strwythur a swyddogaeth yr ecosystem mewn perthynas â dosbarthiad, cyflwr a statws cynefinoedd a rhywogaethau yn y parc
– Arwain y gwaith o ddatblygu a gweithredu cynigion prosiect ac ariannu ar gyfer adfer natur
– Cydweithio â phartneriaid a rhanddeiliaid perthnasol i gyflawni'r tasgau hyn
– Lle gellir sicrhau canlyniad amgylcheddol buddiol clir, arwain y gwaith o baratoi strategaeth, polisi a chyngor amgylcheddol
– Cyfrannu at Adroddiadau Cyflwr y Parc, Cynlluniau Rheoli Parciau Cenedlaethol a Chynlluniau Corfforaethol.

I ymuno â ni fel Uwch Ecolegydd, bydd gennych o leiaf 3 blynedd o brofiad rheoli / goruchwylio / rheoli adnoddau naturiol profedig, yn ddelfrydol o fewn ardal warchodedig, adran gynllunio'r awdurdod lleol a / neu sefydliad cadwraeth, gan gyflawni gwaith cadwraeth ar lefel rheolaeth ganol neu uchod.
Yn ogystal, bydd gennych hefyd:
– Sgiliau Cymraeg (Lefel 1 o leiaf)
– Wedi'i addysgu i lefel gradd neu gyfwerth mewn ecoleg neu bwnc amgylchedd tebyg
– Profiad da o ymchwil a datblygu yn y sector cyhoeddus, gan gynnwys comisiynu a rheoli ansawdd contractau perthnasol, syntheseiddio a lledaenu gwybodaeth
