Business Development Manager – Utilities

Job Type : Permanent, Full Time

Salary : £45000 – £60000/annum £100k OTE – Pus Electric company ca

This rapidly growing B2B services company puts technology, innovation and sustainability at the heart of its business, establishing a market-leading position to deliver high-quality services across the UK. The company can demonstrate strong growth, including throughout the pandemic, and they’re looking for equally ambitious professional salespeople, with experience selling to utilities, to join them to fuel the future, be well-rewarded – and build their careers.

THE ROLE

You’ll be part of a high performing team and responsible for achieving your own new business targets – and retain autonomy, accountability, support and development to deliver large new utility accounts to the portfolio.

Using a consultative sales approach, you’ll manage a complex and usually high-value sales process from start to finish. Often, the “finish” is a series of agreements that could be based on time or geography, so you’ll be juggling multiple projects at the same time, through a substantial pipeline that’s much more than a wish-list. And as contracts develop, you’ll seek out other opportunities to add new services and increase value.

Representing a respected brand, you’ll be a well-rehearsed and skilled negotiator and able to communicate complex technology in straightforward terms that help convey a unique sales proposition.

THE CANDIDATE

Experience required:

Rock-solid sales experience in a B2B sales/service environment selling to utility companies
Experience negotiating and managing complex regional/national contracts of significant value
Outstanding relationship customer management skills
Consistent and evidence-based record of target achievement
Strong with IT – and at making technology a central plank of your sales proposition Personal Qualities:

An energetic sales professional with a strong sense of purpose
Ambitious for your own success and that of the company – you are the face of the company
Highly organised – Informal project management skills that help keep you on track
Flexible to work and travel extensively around the England
Willing to take personal responsibility for your results GEOGRAPHY

These are nationwide responsibilities, so you can live anywhere that gives good access to the English travel network – although you’ll also be encouraged to maintain your relationships using modern technology to save time and the environmental impact of driving – that’s also where the EV comes in.

PACKAGE

There’s an excellent basic salary range of £45k to £60k and open-ended commission that rewards success. An OTE of six figures is realistically achievable once established. There’s also an electric company car and a series of other benefits that befits a market leading organisation. We will be pleased to outline more details during early discussions.

INTERVIEW PROCESS

Martin Ellis of the RSE Group will perform screening and initial interviews before candidates are selected for interview by the company – Company recruitment consists of an early interview (starting by phone or video to keep the process moving), an “Experience Day” so you can see the job for everything it is, and a final senior management interview to give you a complete perspective
