Salary : £35100 – £44100/annum

We have an exciting new Publishing Editor role with a leading international academic publisher of high-quality journals, to join their Open Access team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in scholarly publishing to take on a journals specialist role and manage a portfolio of Open Access scientific journals.

This role can be partially home-based, with around 1 day a week attending London office.

The appointed Publishing Editor will undertake the following responsibilities:

Managing and developing assigned journals including setting an annual strategy, commissioning new content at article level, driving impact factor growth and working with external editors to execute the development strategy
Analysing the performance of journals, preparing comprehensive reports and metrics to facilitate decision-making on journal development strategies.
Engaging in negotiations for contract renewals with society partners and editors
Driving revenue via increased APC-paying content

The ideal candidate should have a track record in an editorial role working on a portfolio of academic journals, along with strong project management and presentation skills. Additionally, familiarity with the research world (which can be acquired through direct research or laboratory work) and awareness of research integrity and ethics would be highly advantageous. Excellent stakeholder management skills are particularly essential when liaising with senior academics and editors.
