The company:
One of my very good clients in now looking for a Public Health Design Engineer to join their team in Croydon area. The company has got a couple of offices in the South East and they are working on few key healthcare projects in London. The Building Services team is looking for an addition to their team to work on Public Health design and they offer a great career progression. My client employs over 100 people in all the offices and promotes their employees.
Key Responsibilities for Public Health Design Engineer:
• To undertake the design for all Public Health Services within the Building Services Sector (domestic cold water, above ground drainage and sprinklers etc.)
• Maintaining records and archives to company standards
• Checking design calculations, drawings and specifications prepared by others on a variety of buildings within different sectors
• Coordination between M&E disciplines across multi discipline team
• Ensure the Public Health design quality is maintained
• Ensure delivery to budget
• Input to and maintain set budgets for implementation of design elements
• Raise RFI’s during the design development
• Review the development of established standard details and specifications
• Preparation of design calculations on industry standard software
• Preparation of technical specifications and schematics
• Design directly into 3D Revit software
• Site surveys and inspections
• Monitor site works
• Report writing
Skills & Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years’ exposure within a similar role
• Minimum BEng or equivalent in Public Health / Mechanical Engineering/Building Services or related subject/suitable equivalent experience
• Significant experience in the production of the Public Health design across all RIBA Stages 0 to 7
• Experience in working for MEP Consultants and MEP Contractors within Building Services
• Good level of computer literacy in Windows, Hevacomp, AutoCAD
• A confident ability to design directly into 3D Revit software
• Wider knowledge of other disciplines is highly desirable
• Capable of accurate work under pressure and able to work on several projects simultaneously
• Able to understand and express technical concepts in written and verbal language
• Able to innovate new solutions as well as applying existing solutions to problems
• Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way
• Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential
