Project Manager – Application Software / ERP

Job Type : Permanent, Full Time

Salary : £40000 – £50000/annum

We are looking for a Project Manager who has managed application software implementation projects within a software reseller, consultancy or vendor and has solid experience of the project implementation life cycle from sale to hand over, including timelines, project plans, resources, budgets, risks and issues, milestones and deliverables. The role is to work on mid-range ERP software projects, based from home, and will need to go into head office once a month near Middlesex. Northampton is just a pinpoint – you could live anywhere, but ideally south of Sheffield, to the west, the east or south coasts. Salary to £50k, and they are ready to interview and hire now.

This is to project manage ERP implementation projects of 2 days to 100 days. You will work with a team of 10 consultants who do the delivery and the functional consulting and your job is to work directly with the clients managing the project. There is an opportunity to start on smaller projects and as your experience grows, to pick up bigger and bigger projects. The largest projects are 300 or 400 days, so there is huge scope to develop your career.

The current team is made up of 8 ERP Implementation Consultants and 2 Project Managers. One of the current PM's is being promoted to Operation Manager, so they need a replacement. The other Project Manager is a junior level person, working on small projects but gaining experience and progressing very quickly, hence the replacement that is needed will sit between the Senior PM and the Junior PM.

So this role is for a mid-level Project Manager with experience of managing projects for a software company delivering application software. This could be ERP or accounting software similar to this environment. That would be solutions such as Sage 200, NetSuite, Dynamics NAV, Epicor, SAP Business One, PS Financials, Sage X3, Infor, SunSystems, Dynamics GP, and Coda etc. Or it could be other application software such as Billing solutions, Field Service software, Invoice Automation, Payroll software, HR, Legal software, MRP, Construction, Property Management software, Retail software, CRM, BI, or anything in the same vein.

You need to understand the process of the software implementation project life cycle, so:

Design it
Built it
Test it
Deploy itAnd you understand the issues with getting the right consultant to the client on the right day to do the tasks. You know how to create project management plans to capture user and system requirements, milestones, and deliverables to complete projects; you can manage activity, schedules, creep, risk and stakeholders, and you are a strong communicator who can deal with the pain points, and build great relationships with your clients and your team.

You will travel to client sites to do kick off meetings so you should expect 2 or 3 days travelling per month and the occasional overnight stay.

The UK MD is highly experienced with their ERP solution, takes a hands-on approach to the business and works alongside the clients and the staff. The company is part of a larger global ERP group that turns over £300 million – in the UK they have around 24 staff.
