What you will do
As a Principal Analyst you will be at the heart of building world-class systems for Sky. You will be responsible for driving change and improving processes within the analyst community, enhancing product quality, and ensuring efficient project delivery. Our community is made up of analysts aligned to projects end to end and analysts dedicated to a delivery team aligned to specific components and applications.
* Work with Architects, Engineers, and Analysts to create and deliver innovative end-to-end solution designs for products that meet the requirements of the sponsor while maintaining the overall integrity of the Technology systems estate.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and refine software requirements, ensuring they are clear, complete, and aligned with business objectives and department principles.
* Prepare and facilitate project Kick-offs for Global Commerce alongside Architecture and Engineering. Providing direction and support to the planning and delivery functions.
* Work closely with end-to-end architecture and external engineering teams to ensure alignment of project goals and priorities.
* Recommend and implement process improvements, methodologies, and best practices to optimize software delivery. Advocate for cross-team knowledge sharing and identify opportunities for cross-team process improvements and coordinate efforts to implement them.
* Drive the Backend analyst community. Providing guidance and mentorship to analysts in the department, helping them develop their analytical skills and knowledge.
* Ensure data quality, integrity, and security by establishing and maintaining data governance standards and practices.
What you will bring
* Hands on experience working with product and agile delivery teams, an understanding of iterative development and agile ways of working. Specifically, backend delivery teams using technologies including APIs, queues, and databases. (e.g. Kafka and Cassandra).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to assimilate information and present to audiences from various backgrounds and levels of understanding, spanning Product and Technology. The ability to explain highly technical concepts to a business focus audience.
* Experience analysing a problem, refining requirements, documenting findings, and making recommendations alongside engineers; with a sound understanding of what is important when building highly available, highly reliable services to best serve our customers.
* Experience working within a delivery team, comprising of the following activities: Creating user stories and acceptance criteria using techniques such as BDD and facilitating user story mapping sessions. Facilitating scrum ceremonies including backlog refinement, planning and estimation sessions. Creating and maintaining component/application documentation, encompassing API specifications and Audit events
* Strong collaboration and facilitation skills, the ability to make good technical decisions and to convince others as to the merits and reasons for those decisions.
* Have experience mentoring others and supporting individuals through promotions processes / panels, as well as supporting the panel itself.
* An enthusiasm and aptitude for learning new skills and practices, constantly keeping up with the latest developments in the relevant field.
