An outstanding independent school based in a gorgeous park in Cambridge, one of our most beautiful and historic cities, needs a high quality primary teacher to start as soon as possible.
It is a happy school. Students are pleased to be at the school. They want to learn. The successful primary teacher must be caring and have a genuine desire to understand the individual needs of these students, and how this impacts on their learning. S/he needs to have their own ideas, but to understand this is not main stream teaching to small classes.
The successful primary teacher must be flexible, adaptable and willing to learn to use new skills and strategies. The staff form a very effective team. Teamwork is the essence of their success.
The school specialises in teaching children with dyslexia and associated specific learning difficulties. The school teaches students to manage their dyslexia and is very successful at enabling them to take and pass national exams by the age of 16.
Although desirable, it is not necessary for the primary teacher to have any qualification in dyslexia. The successful applicant will be given accredited training in teaching students with dyslexia.
The school has students from the age of 7 to 16 years of age. Students are generally taught in groups of up to ten students, although this does vary depending on the subject being taught. Key literacy skills, for example, are taught in smaller groups. In the afternoon, the curriculum includes a broad range of interesting and stimulating subjects. During this time so you may be asked to teach one or more of your strengths or interests to students of any age.
The school is graded 'outstanding' by Ofsted. One of the outstanding features is the curriculum. A government inspector recommended that the school publish its own innovative spelling programme.
We look forward to hearing from you
