Job Summary:
To assist as a member of a team to undertake and discharge the statutory functions and policies in relation to the Port Health Service.
To investigate, assess and then instigate enforcement action for failure to comply with statutory notices or otherwise. To include work in default, prosecutions as is appropriate.
To attend, or ensure that the service is represented at, officer and site meetings, public inquiries, courts of law, tribunals, Authority meetings, meetings of external agencies and voluntary organisations as a representative of the Chief Port Health Officer, as directed or necessary.
To prepare necessary notes, reports, schedules, specifications, estimates and notices or other relevant correspondence
Key Duties/Accountabilities:
In performing the duties of the post, the post holder will be expected to make contact, or liaise, with:
the public and/or their professional advisers/contractors;
other members of the Port Health Authority;
other Services including Environmental Health & Trading Standards, Legal Services,
Emergency Planning Unit;
members and officers of the three riparian Authorities;
Note: You may be required to work outside normal office hours. This will attract either payment at a rate agreed by Liverpool City Council or time off in lieu. Subject to prior approval by the Chief Port Health Officer.
