Salary :

Our client has a permanent, full-time vacancy for a Paralegal – Probate in their busy, well-established and expanding Trusts and Estates team. The role will involve supporting the solicitors in the team, primarily dealing with administration of estates work, including but not necessarily limited to obtaining date of death asset and liability information for the purposes of applications for grants of representation, registering grants with financial institutions once issued by the court, completing closure forms and encashing assets, settling estate liabilities and expenses where appropriate, preparing estate accounts and making distributions to beneficiaries. The position would suit someone who has secretarial knowledge in this area of law or a fee earner (paralegal or solicitor) who is happy to work on cases as part of a team.

Ideally, you will have knowledge and experience with the following –

* Probate and Estate Administration

* Preparing IHT400 Inheritance Tax Accounts

* Corrective accounts

* Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax in the context of estates

* Drafting estate accounts

* Legal research and use of online research services

* Use of a case management system (preferably Proclaim, though not essential)

* Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)

Essential skills for this role include being able to use your own initiative and assisting other members of the team. Accurate presentation of work, attention to detail and excellent time management together with a methodical approach to work, a professional and attentive telephone manner along with first-rate communication skills are all imperative to this role.
