Nestled into the grounds of a castle, on a large estate is an independent school and children’s home for children and young people aged 6-19 with special educational needs. Utilising Rudolf Steiner’s educational recommendations, the school has a bespoke curriculum based and adapted to the particular needs of the learners and covering all key areas of the National Curriculum. I am looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable and experienced person for the role of Learning Support Assistant.
About the role:
* Support pupils during class-activities, in workshops and at break time.
* Supporting and accompanying a pupil or pupils to events, activities, gatherings and festivals both on and off-site.
* Modelling behaviour in such a way as to set an example to the pupils of mature and appropriate interactions.
* Maintain safe practice and report any concerns to the person in charge.
* Support the ethos and philosophy of the school.
* Learn and partake in verses and songs in Class, Assembly and at Festivals
* Participate in pupil progress recording and daily record sheets.
* Work collegially as a member of a team.
The successful candidate will have:
* At least 2 years’ experience working in an educational or residential setting with children who have special educational needs and challenging behaviour.
* Experience of working directly with SEN students on a 1:1 basis.
* Previous Team Teach style or PBM training (or similar.)
* A clear Adult and Child DBS at enhanced level, or happy to start this (funded by the school for the successful candidate) and overseas police checks for any travel abroad over 3 months within the last 10 years.
* A passion and dedication to providing educational and supportive experiences for children and young people.
* A willingness to learn about curative, holistic education, in particular the teachings of Steiner.
